I have nothing to say lately so I’m adding this to our wee blog.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Sparks Bomb Panic in Boston
The bomb squads of Boston are scrambling after a number of suspicious packages were left littered around the city and its suburbs, containing blinking lights and exposed circuitry. The panicked pandemonium has caused the entire city to go into code red terrorist alert.
The only problem? It’s not a terrorist threat. It’s an advertising campaign for Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
The advertising devices themselves were magnetic computer motherboards with the Lite-Brite face of the Mooninites displayed on the side, magnetically attached to bridges, underpasses, etc.
Apparently, the Bomb Squad has had to close down major roads and cordon off entire sections of the city to deal with the Mysterious Mooninite Devices. The traffic grid in Boston? Absolute chaos. And up until an hour ago, Adult Swim (through Turner Broadcast) hadn’t even bothered to inform the city where all of the Mooninite bundles were located.
Needless to say, Turner Broadcast is now apologetically complying with Boston’s authorities, but the campaign is also running in a host of US cities. So if you’re in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, or any other of a dozen odd US cities… BEWARE THE MOONINITES!
Greetings from Portland! (Not for long!!! Bye-bye little monkeys!)
Thanks to all of you for thinking of me on my super happy birthday! There is so much for me to be thankful for….I have high expectations for this next decade! March 19 looks like it may be the day for my big migration.
Sadly, I’ll miss those of you migrating to the land of chocolate, skiing and tasty cough drops. I guess I’ll stick to the land of exorbitantly-priced coffee and sockeye salmon.
I’ll miss you guys!!!
Besos…but not for the CDS
Ok, a monster may have been created – could this be yet another outlet for my whining???
So, I went to the dentist/periodontist today for my re-check to see how my gums are doing since the deep cleaning in Dec. My extremely long, how the hell will I keep this up forever routine (which Jody, Mark, and Mychelle have had the pleasure to witness – and which Jay hates because it takes so long) of flossing, using these little brushes between my teeth and then rubber tipping my gums seems to be working — in fact, the dentist was quite impressed with how well my gums are doing now (I know you all really want to read about my gum health
). Unfortunately, I still have to have surgery – but only on the upper right side, back molar. And I directly attribute this to not wearing my retainers for very long after my braces came off. I hated those things – then if you didn’t wear them for a while, they hurt to put back in! Needless to say, after a while, I gave up (and now can in no way get them to fit on my teeth). Which of course leads to shifting teeth, which has led to very tight spots between teeth in my mouth – which are hard to reach and which now are responsible for a little slicing and dicing that will happen in my mouth (or maybe I am the responsible party still – ?).
That said, THANK GOD FOR MICROSOFT – bet you didn’t see that one coming. Thanks to them and their amazingly fantastic insurance, I’m not shelling out the thousands of dollars it apparently costs to get this all fixed. So, for all my complaining about Jay’s job/long hours, I guess there are a few things to be glad for with respect to it all — so go support Microsoft by buying VISTA, a 360/games, a Zune, or some other product they create. My teeth will thank you. And don’t forget to catch Bill Gates on the Daily Show tonite
So, here’s my first attempt at a post…
Since Jody asked me on Friday what I do in my free time, I have been thinking a lot about that…. What is free time? What do other people do in their free time? I feel like I don’t have much free time and what I do have, I spend with friends, Jay, my kitties. Other activities that occupy my ‘free time’ (i.e., when I’m not working, in class, or doing homework) include such fun things as laundry, cleaning up the kitchen, folding clothes, cleaning the bathrooms, cooking, watching a little TV, trying to keep up with people who live farther away, going to the gym – and trying to combine as many of those things as possible (I folded a weeks worth of laundry while talking on the phone with my mom tonite, oohhhh….). Most of that does not sound very exciting – but I will willingly (well, almost willingly) do just about any of it to avoid homework! In fact, I have come to like work so much more because when I’m at work, I can only focus on work and I can’t think about all the other things I should be doing or want to be doing.
Thinking about this also brings me to another line of thought I’ve been pondering for a while – I don’t really have any hobbies. What does that say about me? I’m feeling pretty flat and boring these days. So, my uh, resolution I suppose(?) for this year is to get a hobby so I can feel oh-so-much-more interesting and maybe have a better answer to the question, what do I do with my free time. Any suggestions anyone?
Now we shall see if I can figure out how to post this….
I love this…

Scientists can’t get sloth to move
JENA, Germany — Scientists in the eastern German city of Jena said Wednesday they have finally given up after three years of failed attempts to entice a sloth into budging as part of an experiment in animal movement.
The sloth, named Mats, was remanded to a zoo after consistently refusing to climb up and then back down a pole, as part of an experiment conducted by scientists at the University of Jena’s Institute of Systematic Zoology and Evolutionary Biology.
Neither pounds of cucumbers nor plates of homemade spaghetti were appetizing enough to make Mats move.
“Mats obviously wanted absolutely nothing to do with furthering science,” said Axel Burchardt, a university spokesman.
Mats’ new home is the zoo in the northwestern city of Duisburg where, according to all reports, he is very comfortable.
So in thinking of New Year and also about our guilty pleasures question (everyone name one guilty tv watching pleasure, oh and i forgot to add that when Jacob lived with us occasionally he and i would watch elimi-date together, yikes!) that got me to thinking that perhaps our wee blog needs some lists. So here it goes for me. Feel free to copy my questions and answer for yourself! Or make up new categories.

The New Year
Death Cab for Cutie
So this is the new year
And i don’t feel any different
The clanking of crystal
Explosions off in the distance (in the distance)
So this is the new year
And I have no resolutions
For self assigned penance
For problems with easy solutions
So everybody put your best suit or dress on
Let’s make believe that we are wealthy for just this once
Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn
As thirty dialogs bleed into one
I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then i could travel just by folding a map
No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways
There’d be no distance that could hold us back
There’d be no distance that could hold us back
So this is the new year
You know that Death Cab for Cuttie song (or maybe Postal Service) that goes “I wish the world was flat like the old days” and then something about how he could just fold the map and be with whoever it is he wants to be with. Yeah, I’m feeling like that about our very own Swiss Family Robinson’s. I’m in denial about you guys leaving. I’m pretending that you’ll be on vacation. Tell me how much airfare costs…unless it is depressingly expensive. I need to get a credit card that will earn me some airline miles. While personally I’m grieving the loss of excellent friends I am really proud of our shy little rose to really go after her dreams and leave the familiar and comfortable behind. I remember when we had a class together and she wrote about what her life would be like at 40 and she was living in a country house with her husband and kids, driving home from her nursing job and thinking about how she had been a neonatal nurse in India. Look at how much of her dreams she’s already accomplished! (I know that I started to tell you this at the party Em but since I started writing it before and I still think its worthwhile for everyone to hear.) I also wanted to thank Jody and Mark for hosting. We are so lucky to have Jody to keep us together and organized. In addition, Elsa your Jay really cracked me up and it was fun talking with him. Anyway, I’m not feeling very clever today so I’ll stop here but I did want to write and let you know how much I appreciate having all of you as my friends.
PS Since I’m not a computer person is there anyway to spell check before you post? Or should I type in word and paste in the posting window thing?
Prepare yourself for some sappiness..
Thanks to everyone who could come last night. It was good to see you all and I feel very blessed that we are all great friends, that we are all valuable to each other. Not everyone gets to have that kind of companionship and they are really missing out. I know the reason for the party was a somewhat sad one but I enjoyed the fact that we didn’t dwell. It’ll be fun to see Em and Pat (and minimccanns) in Swissland and I’m happy and proud of them for their bravery in starting this new adventure. So thanks everyone. Thanks for being such good people. Thanks for being such good friends.
Soon I’ll publish the pics on our photo site. Nothing like documenting a good zestos burger!
So I’m totally wasting time here. I should be working on samples for a meeting I’ve got tomorrow but instead I’m writing to you all. Anyway. So after my workout at the gym I walked in the locker room and there was this lady in there changing into her workout clothes and I noticed that as she took off her nylons she had nothing on underneath. As in no undies under those nylons. She then proceeded to get into her workout attire that consisted of short running shorts, a really slim tee and running shoes. No undergarments whatsoever. Not even socks. I don’t think she noticed me drop-jaw starring.. She was definitely a really thin girl so I guess the lack of sports bra wouldn’t really affect her in the same way that it would me. But no undies? No socks? Really?
Am I just being a prude here or what? Could I be subconsciously forcing my undergarment-loving notions upon the freethinking public?
Either way, I think I’ll keep wearing my undies.
